Growing up in the state of Pennsylvania, Lena realised her interest in hair during her studies at the Cosmetology School in 1996. After her studies, Lena began apprenticing immediately, which meant that when she moved to New York in 2001, she landed an assisting role with renowned hair colourist Laurie Foley who was based at Bumble and Bumble.
Lena’s dedication to her work in the salon and the development of her craft after-hours resulted ingaining instant recognition as a ‘little master’ by Foley. During her time at Bumble and Bumble, Lena worked around other notable colourists such as Victoria Hunter and Marie Robinson who noticed her interest in editorial, leading her to breakthrough into the world of editorial and creative hairdressing. There is something to be said about Lena’s large client base whom she has maintained over several years and still works with at her SoHo based salon, Suite Caroline, which she founded in 2013.
Her clientele includes high profile names such as Bjork, Rachel Weisz and Doutzen Kroes who she has sustained a trusting relationship with. Her diverse skill-set stretches from an effortless balayage respecting the client’s natural hair, to a bold, creative colouring often seen in both editorial and onr unways such as Saint Laurent, Marni, Louis Vuitton and Alexander Wang. Suite Caroline is where Lena now dedicates most of her time to, establishing an environment of trust and communication for her dedicated clientele. She is also a contributor to publications such as British and Italian Vogue and is still requested by several celebrity clients.
